15 feet minimum clearance required above any diving board,
10 feet on each side

reach of the board.
Swimming lanes are 8 feet wide.
OCCUPANCY
1 bather per 15 square feet of surface (in portions of the
pool that are 5 feet deep or less)
1 bather per 20 square feet of surface ( in portions of the
pool that are 5 feet deep or more)
Subtract 300 square feet from the total surface calculation
for each diving board installed.
ALTERNATIVE CALCULATION METHOD
1 bather for every 36 square feet of surface (regardless of
depth)
1 diver for every 100 square feet of surface
Electrical outlets or switches located within 15 feet of the
water's edge must be protected by a ground fault interrupter
(GFI)
All portable spas must be protected with a GFI.
FORMULAS
Seventy-five percent of the surface area of a pool is the
required surface area of solar panels to adequately heat the
pool.
Each spa jet requires flow of 15 gpm

Hole size requirements for air blower rings:
If the air ring will have 1/8 inch holes, drill 80 of them
If the air ring will have 5/32 inch holes, drill 73 of them
If the air ring will have 3/16 inch holes, drill 50 of them
If the air ring will have 1/4 inch holes, drill 30 of them
To Estimate the Horsepower of a Blower:
1 hp = 6.5 amps at 110 volts = 3.25 amps at 220 volts
2 hp = 13 amps at 110 volts = 6.5 amps at 220 volts

Heater Btu output rating ÷ (gallons x 8.33) = degrees
temperature rise / hour
Breakpoint chlorination method(for every 20,000 gallons of
water):
